Anger in blood
Aim for revenge
Hate for injustice
I've waged a war
Rotten reasons
I'm sick of it!
Words of envy
Empowered my supremacy
They were wrong
I know I'm right
I'll Grave undoings
and grieve forgiveness
I'll go on a journey
Once upon a dream
I'll clean mistakes
Replace the disgrace
Someday they'll realize
the need of my help
So then I'll dig up
And take everything back!
I know I'm bad
They made me this way
But I won't ask their stupid love
I'll ask for God's.
Kill me once and for all,
A deceitful plan of theirs,
Go on!...give all you've got!
I know I've sinned...I know...
Wickedness might forge...
All through my mortal body,
But...I'm still me...
I've changed but not entirely
I'll be a butterfly,
That springs from a cocoon
Who's as pure as water...
And as white as pearl
And I'll live again...soon...
In a place I do belong
Taken by a savior
And praise the greatest Creator!

Setting of the
Short Story “Zita”

INTRODUCTION
"Zita" is one of the famous pre-World War
II short stories, written by Arturo Rotor on 1907 to 1988. The name might
be familiar to you because Rotor was a very well known medical doctor and the
disease "Rotor Syndrome" which he isolated and first correctly
described is named after him. He also played a vital role during WWII in the
government in exile, was a noted breeder of orchids and a widely respected
music critic. (January 2015
The Setting is one of the essential elements of
the short story “Zita”. It narrates when and where the story took place, its
geographical locations, weather and social conditions, as well as the mood or
atmosphere created by the story itself.
This
report would focus on the first three aspects of the setting observed in “Zita”.
This includes the Place or where the story
took place, the Time or when the
story took place, and the weather conditions observed in the story.
PLACE
·
Pauambang
Pauambang is the place where Mr.
Francisco B. Reteche, a school teacher, came from.
“TURONG
brought him from Pauambang in his small sailboat, for the coastwise steamer did
not stop at any little island of broken cliffs and coconut palms.”
·
Land of Anayat
The
whole story happened on the Land of Anayat, a province surrounded by sea named
Anayat sea. It is where Mr. Reteche
became the teacher of the province girl “Zita”, who has an exact name as his
past lover.
"An exile has come
to Anayat… and he is so young, so young." So young and lonely and
sufficient unto himself. There was no mistaking the stamp of a strong decision
on that brow, the brow of those who have to be cold and haughty, those
shoulders stooped slightly, less from the burden that they bore than from a
carefully cultivated air of unconcern; no common school-teacher could dress so
carelessly and not appear shoddy.
·
Don Eliodoro’s House
This is the house of Don Eliodoro, the
owner of almost all of the coconuts in the island, and the father of Zita. It
is a big house located near the school where Mr. Reteche was supposed to stay,
but he refused and rather stay at Turong’s home. It is also the place where he
taught Zita, how to become a lady.
They
had prepared a room for him in Don Eliodoro's house so that he would not have
to walk far to school every morning, but he gave nothing more than a glance at
the big stone building with its Spanish azotea, its arched doorways, its
flagged courtyard.
·
Turong’s House
This is where Mr.
Reteche stayed. It is a small hut located near the sea and far from the school
and even from the church. It is owned by Turong, a fisherman and messenger who often
delivers letters to Mr. Reteche.
He
chose instead Turong's home, a shaky hut near the sea. Was the sea rough and
dangerous at times? He did not mind it. Was the place far from the church and
the schoolhouse? The walk would do him good. Would he not feel lonely with
nobody but an illiterate fisherman for a companion.
·
The Church
This is where Mr.
Reteche often delivered his prayers secretly.
He
never went to church, but then, that always went with learning and education,
did it not? One night Bue saw him coming out of the dim doorway. He watched
again and the following night he saw him again. They would not believe it, they
must see it with their own eyes and so they came. He did not go in every night,
but he could be seen at the most unusual hours, sometimes at dusk, sometimes at
dawn, once when it was storming and the lightning etched ragged paths from
heaven to earth. Sometimes he stayed for a few minutes, sometimes he came twice
or thrice in one evening. They reported it to Father Cesareo but it seemed that
he already knew. "Let a peaceful man alone in his prayers." The
answer had surprised them.
TIME
One of the observable
characteristics of “Zita” was that the narrator told the story using auxiliary
verbs and action verbs in the past tense, such as brought, happened, were, was,
tossed, opened and etc. This only implies that the narrator was telling a story
from past events.
Apparent to this, the author also
used or borrowed some words such as Don, Azotea, Provinciana, which are greatly
used by the Spaniards. This means that the Short Story “Zita” might have
occurred during the Spanish regime or during the period when the Philippines
became a colony of Spain.
WEATHER CONDITION
The whole story has occurred in a
fair and good weather condition. Although a part of it states that Mr. Reteche
could be seen during the unusual hours when it was storming and the lightning etched ragged paths
from heaven to earth, but then it discussed about the goodness of the climate
by describing the condition of the sky.
The
sky hangs over Anayat, in the middle of the Anayat Sea, like an inverted
wineglass, a glass whose wine had been spilled, a purple wine of which Anayat
was the last precious drop. For that is Anayat in the crepuscule, purple and
mellow, sparkling and warm and effulgent when there is a moon, cool and heady
and sensuous when there is no moon.
This statement describes the beauty of the night where a
fair weather condition could be observed.

Poem
Thy breathe a fresh through the worst scent
Thy taste the sweetness in the bitterest test
Thy found a needle from the dessert of the west
Thy met true friends in life's longest quest.

Thy met true friends in life's longest quest.

My poem for my blog
Cages of Freedom
As every door closes its way
As every key melts away
And many people begins to pay
The buried debts they've made everyday
Though some was locked together
In a place of love and laughter
For God replaced their silent prayer
And He brought them to the "Cages of freedom" to stay forever....
As every door closes its way
As every key melts away
And many people begins to pay
The buried debts they've made everyday
Though some was locked together
In a place of love and laughter
For God replaced their silent prayer
And He brought them to the "Cages of freedom" to stay forever....

January 11, 2014 to March 01, 2014, every Saturday
Length of Implementation:
The program was implemented for 8 Saturdays which started on January 11, 2014
to March 01, 2014. Every session had consumed 3 hours starting from 8:00 am to
11:00 am. An hour before the said time was used in the preparation of the class
and gathering of the students to the said area. After the class, the group have
spent half an hour in packing the used materials and cleaning the area.
Objectives of the Project
Towards the development of the Literacy rate of Barangay San Lucas
II especially the out of school youth, the following objectives are set:
1. To develop the knowledge and skills of the children and help
them to discover great things and abilities.
2. To increase the Literacy rate of the children in Brgy. San
Lucas II.
3. To serve as an eye opener of the parents regarding the
significance of Education to their children’s future.
4. To educate the children good manners, right conduct and the
proper practices of hygiene.
5. To serve as our training ground as future educators of our
community.
3
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Background of the Project
“Journeys of a thousand miles begin with a single step”. A famous
quotation of Laozi, which shows that in achieving the peak of success, you must
be the change that the world can see and can help people, be a better person in
the future.
We have noticed that, in some areas of the barangay, many children
were only spending their time playing beside the streets. In like manner, this
action merely serves as a threat to their lives. That was the reason why we
thought of making a project that will help them to spend their time wisely and
effectively through education.
“Knowledge is a key to success”. The material that we use was not
an accessory, but as a door that opens up opportunities to be able to reach our
highest dreams and goals. A gift that was not inborn but achieved through the
aids of time and experience. That’s why we should conduct this project, to be a
way of making the children and their family, have a better outlook in life. To
provide an education that was fare to all, irrespective of their social class
and race. Moreover, the one who teach not only the basic education system, but
also good moral character and the love of God.
4
Justification of the
Project
To make the project valid, we launched a survey to a family living
in the area of San Lucas II. This was held on December 7, 2013 in Purok 5, San
Lucas II. As a result of our survey, the lack of financial means of a family
serves as an obstacle for them to let their children’s study, even in
elementary. They also proved that aside from studying and wasting time in
education, their children might as well help them someday in their chores and
work.
While asking the family about the recent projects in their
barangay, we noticed that somehow, the focus of attention was more about waste
segregation, proper waste disposal, and other health services. However, by
thinking about it thoroughly, the program of attention should be on education.
It was the only program that would benefit the whole barangay for a long period
of time. Some of them also requested some programs such as in the field of
medicine and treatments, aids for dengue causing mosquitoes, and some
livelihood programs.
Education is very essential to one’s life. It affects the way a
person talk, move, feel, love, solve problems in their life, face consequences
of their actions, and make the best decisions for their future. That is why
proper education should not start after our deepest regrets, but it should be
unraveled whenever opportunities arouse or what others call “the right time”.
And this right time should be the early years of a child because their
perceptions were still easy to mold and to teach proper morality. As what
people say “A good leader and follower springs from the hands of a good
teacher”. Teach them great things now, and they will thank you forever.
5
Benefits Derived from the
Project
The target students of this project would most likely benefit in
terms of giving primary education to their children. Aside from letting these
children play in the roadsides or rather stay at home and do nothing but to
sleep, they could rather spend their time happily while learning.
The project involves the development in reading skills that would
teach the students on how to pronounce, read, and talk Filipino and English
words. This part already serves as a major learning, for these skills can be
used in their everyday lives. Counting and other arithmetic skills would also
be taught to the students. The group would also let them discover their
skills in arts and music.
Besides, many schools are accepting taxes, miscellaneous, fees and
other payments for a child to be enrolled in preschool. However, this project
would be free and voluntary which would not cost them money. Hence, their
children would benefit a lot for they are the once who would receive the
knowledge and skills that may help them have a better future someday.
Coverage
The project covers up to 6 out of school youth of the Purok 5 of
barangay San Lucas II especially those who do not have enough financial means
to support their child’s education. It also covers up those people who want to
learn about the basic education.
6
METHODOLOGY
The group organized a survey in Purok 5 of Brgy. San Lucas II.
This was apprehended to know the inefficience of some Governmental programs and
to gather out of school youth that age from 3 to 6 years. As a result, the
group encouraged 6 students to be a part of the program.
To complete the program, the class decided to ask for help with
the local government to provide some basic information sources such as books
and other reading materials. Visual aids and other visual representations would
be produced by the group’s effort.
At the first day of the class, the group would present gifts to
the students. This contained all the materials that they need for the whole
class like pencils, papers, notebooks, and some coloring stuffs. An hour before
the class would be used in gathering the students to the said area.
The class hours would focus with the teachings of reading, basic
mathematics, art, and music. We would also conduct activities and games so that
the students would enjoy their time in class.
A mini graduation ceremony would be conducted on the last day of
class. We would prepare certificates and some awards as a memento that they
have collaborated with us in the duration of the project. For without them, we
could not accomplish our duties as future educators. We would also thank them
for they are not the only ones who learned, but we also learned from them.

My Favorite Poem
Hear The Wind Blow
Bowed by the weight of wickedness
the land sags turning swirling
as the drunkard descend into the abyss
of peasant deeds and invidious intent
Hearken you all the dwell therein
the judgment of the God of host
Fell upon your head in the distinct
hour of the ends of the earth
A hot full wind blew
not to cleanse nor widow as decreed
behold He shall come up like clouds
and His chariots like whirlwind
His horses are swifter than eagles.
Woe to the land that plundered and laid to waste
The mighty and the lowly
The slaves and the free old drunk
Of the wine of His fury
Hail, hear the wind blow
That also bore the revelations
Of His mercy
The unfolding of His decree
Before the land yields to it's ultimate destiny
Bring my children from the east
And gather you from the west
Bring My son's from afar
And My daughters from the ends of the world
Hear the wind blow
Before the earth breaks and fire
Consumes the whole creation
The coming of salvation
On the path of the earth's triumphant
Ninety seven summers have gone
And in the far east have heard a psalm
THY WILLS BEEN DONE!
behold He shall come up like clouds
and His chariots like whirlwind
His horses are swifter than eagles.
Woe to the land that plundered and laid to waste
The mighty and the lowly
The slaves and the free old drunk
Of the wine of His fury
Hail, hear the wind blow
That also bore the revelations
Of His mercy
The unfolding of His decree
Before the land yields to it's ultimate destiny
Bring my children from the east
And gather you from the west
Bring My son's from afar
And My daughters from the ends of the world
Hear the wind blow
Before the earth breaks and fire
Consumes the whole creation
The coming of salvation
On the path of the earth's triumphant
Ninety seven summers have gone
And in the far east have heard a psalm
THY WILLS BEEN DONE!
