them to discover great things and abilities.
2. To increase the Literacy rate of the children in Brgy. San
Lucas II.
3. To serve as an eye opener of the parents regarding the
significance of Education to their children’s future.
4. To educate the children good manners, right conduct and the
proper practices of hygiene.
5. To serve as our training ground as future educators of our
community.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Background of the Project
“Journeys of a thousand miles begin with a single step”. A famous
quotation of Laozi, which shows that in achieving the peak of success, you must
be the change that the world can see and can help people, be a better person in
the future.
We have noticed that, in some areas of the barangay, many children
were only spending their time playing beside the streets. In like manner, this
action merely serves as a threat to their lives. That was the reason why we
thought of making a project that will help them to spend their time wisely and
effectively through education.
“Knowledge is a key to success”. The material that we use was not
an accessory, but as a door that opens up opportunities to be able to reach our
highest dreams and goals. A gift that was not inborn but achieved through the
aids of time and experience. That’s why we should conduct this project, to be a
way of making the children and their family, have a better outlook in life. To
provide an education that was fare to all, irrespective of their social class
and race. Moreover, the one who teach not only the basic education system, but
also good moral character and the love of God.
4
Justification of the
Project
To make the project valid, we launched a survey to a family living
in the area of San Lucas II. This was held on December 7, 2013 in Purok 5, San
Lucas II. As a result of our survey, the lack of financial means of a family
serves as an obstacle for them to let their children’s study, even in
elementary. They also proved that aside from studying and wasting time in
education, their children might as well help them someday in their chores and
work.
While asking the family about the recent projects in their
barangay, we noticed that somehow, the focus of attention was more about waste
segregation, proper waste disposal, and other health services. However, by
thinking about it thoroughly, the program of attention should be on education.
It was the only program that would benefit the whole barangay for a long period
of time. Some of them also requested some programs such as in the field of
medicine and treatments, aids for dengue causing mosquitoes, and some
livelihood programs.
Education is very essential to one’s life. It affects the way a
person talk, move, feel, love, solve problems in their life, face consequences
of their actions, and make the best decisions for their future. That is why
proper education should not start after our deepest regrets, but it should be
unraveled whenever opportunities arouse or what others call “the right time”.
And this right time should be the early years of a child because their
perceptions were still easy to mold and to teach proper morality. As what
people say “A good leader and follower springs from the hands of a good
teacher”. Teach them great things now, and they will thank you forever.
5
Benefits Derived from the
Project
The target students of this project would most likely benefit in
terms of giving primary education to their children. Aside from letting these
children play in the roadsides or rather stay at home and do nothing but to
sleep, they could rather spend their time happily while learning.
The project involves the development in reading skills that would
teach the students on how to pronounce, read, and talk Filipino and English
words. This part already serves as a major learning, for these skills can be
used in their everyday lives. Counting and other arithmetic skills would also
be taught to the students. The group would also let them discover their
skills in arts and music.
Besides, many schools are accepting taxes, miscellaneous, fees and
other payments for a child to be enrolled in preschool. However, this project
would be free and voluntary which would not cost them money. Hence, their
children would benefit a lot for they are the once who would receive the
knowledge and skills that may help them have a better future someday.
Coverage
The project covers up to 6 out of school youth of the Purok 5 of
barangay San Lucas II especially those who do not have enough financial means
to support their child’s education. It also covers up those people who want to
learn about the basic education.
6
METHODOLOGY
The group organized a survey in Purok 5 of Brgy. San Lucas II.
This was apprehended to know the inefficience of some Governmental programs and
to gather out of school youth that age from 3 to 6 years. As a result, the
group encouraged 6 students to be a part of the program.
To complete the program, the class decided to ask for help with
the local government to provide some basic information sources such as books
and other reading materials. Visual aids and other visual representations would
be produced by the group’s effort.
At the first day of the class, the group would present gifts to
the students. This contained all the materials that they need for the whole
class like pencils, papers, notebooks, and some coloring stuffs. An hour before
the class would be used in gathering the students to the said area.
The class hours would focus with the teachings of reading, basic
mathematics, art, and music. We would also conduct activities and games so that
the students would enjoy their time in class.
A mini graduation ceremony would be conducted on the last day of
class. We would prepare certificates and some awards as a memento that they
have collaborated with us in the duration of the project. For without them, we
could not accomplish our duties as future educators. We would also thank them
for they are not the only ones who learned, but we also learned from them.
